Day 12 in Greece - 2024
Harmony Boutique Hotel
I cannot say enough how much we like Harmony Boutique Hotel. Not only is the shower in our room the best shower we have taken in both trips to Greece, but the bed is actually comfortable! For whatever reason, each apartment we book in Greece seems to have the most uncomfortable beds to ever exist.
We sleep in until 08:30 or so, and Jeremy gets up to take his shower. I take a picture of the view from our balcony. He agrees that the shower in this hotel is a 10/10 experience. We go down to the main building around 09:30 for breakfast. It's a breakfast buffet, and the pastries are absolutely delicious. There's one called Bougatsa that has cream cheese. Oh my gosh, it's so yummy.
We return to our room to relax until check out time. Our taxi isn't scheduled to arrive until 16:00, so thankfully the hotel keeps our luggage behind the counter while we go explore.
A Day of Reading
We walk down to the waterfront and down the street a ways until we get to a bench by the sea. I snap a few photographs of the remarkably clear water, and then settle on the bench with Jeremy. Jeremy is reading his book, the breeze from the sea gently blowing his hair, the sun on his face. My goodness, I love him. I take out my travel journal and write in it for a bit before pulling my book out to read, too. We sit like this, just lost in our literature worlds in the peaceful life of the island, until our tummies start to grumble.
We walk down to Blu Blu for lunch. Jeremy orders fruit waffles for the second time on this trip. He declares, "It was delicious, so I'm sticking to it!" I get chocolate chip pancakes. We order coffees as well, and when we are done eating, we move to these sofas they have where we continue to sip on our beverages and read our books. We stretch out the time as much as possible before returning to the hotel around 15:00.
The taxi isn't due to arrive for another hour, so we sit on chairs in the lobby with our books and luggage and read for another hour.
Traveling Back to Thessaloniki
The taxi arrives right on time, and we make our way to the airport. It's a small airport, and we get through security very quickly. We board a very similar plane to the one that brought us to Mykonos - it could be the same 72-600 for all we know! We conclude that we're not huge fans of Aegean Airlines, mostly because of the way they board their planes. It's chaotic as heck.
The flight is 20-30 minutes back to Athens, where we have a very short layover until our next flight to Thessaloniki. The second flight is only about an hour long. I had booked Apostolos' taxi to come get us from the airport, and he was there waiting for us. He drives us back to our apartment in City Center.
We don't have a very exciting evening. We make dinner, we do laundry, relax, read more, and then head to bed. Rest is much needed, and well-deserved.
