Day 15 in Greece - 2023

Breakfast


We sleep in a little bit, getting up around 09:30. We go to Alexandros for breakfast. I get my usual cappuccino, and Jeremy gets a filtered coffee and a glass of orange juice. I order a slice of apple pie and Jeremiah orders a "Full Breakfast" which includes a hard-boiled egg, tomatoes, cucumber, Nutella, toast, slices of baguette, a croissant, two puff pastries, cheese, and slices of ham, turkey, and bologna.

New Life Clinic


We drive over to New Life Clinic after finishing breakfast. I'm scheduled for another vaginal scan, and Jeremy has to complete some bloodwork. My scan shows that my follicles have grown in both ovaries, and the doctor tells me that I may have my egg collection done on Friday or next Monday.


I'm also told I need more Orgalutran, which prevents ovulation. The pharmacy that has it is the one in Cosmos mall, so Jeremy and I head over there.

Cosmos Mall


Jeremiah and I drive over to Cosmos Mall. We go to the pharmacy first, as I was told I need to take my medication right away. The pharmacy gives me a bag full of Orgalutran shots, and I pop into the women's room to administer the injection on myself in my belly.


I exit the bathroom and Jeremy asks me if we should just have lunch at the mall since we are already here. Might as well! We walk the food court, but we don't really see anything that catches our eye. I remember that there are restaurants outside of the main mall building from the last time I was here, so we exit. We end up at a place called Brulée Café. Jeremy orders a macchiato and an egg prosciutto dish. The macchiato is a true macchiato, which is stained espresso. It's a small cup of very strong espresso stained with milk! I get a cappuccino with a Bueno vs Kit Kat waffle. It is insanely chocolate-y, which is not a complaint in my book.

The White Tower


We head back to the car and drive into downtown Thessaloniki, which is chaos. The way they drive in the city is quite different in some ways than driving in the United States. People just kind of park wherever they want, budge into traffic however they please, and they will sometimes drive in your lane with you. Sharing is not caring when driving, folks!


We park near the White Tower of Thessaloniki, and notice that there are a few cool looking ships nearby. We approach the ships and it looks like the pirate ship is going to leave in a few minutes. It turns out that it just says the time and is a few minutes off. There's a "War Ship" ready to go though, so we hop on board. It's completely free, you only have to purchase the drinks you order whilst on deck, which is not a big deal. The ship takes us for a thirty minute cruise around the bay.


We disembark and head to the White Tower. It's a museum, and we stop at each exhibit to learn about its history. There are security guards throughout, one of which scolds Jeremiah when he leans too far over a display and sets off an alarm. We make our way to the top of the tower, soaking in the view, before heading back down.


We walk around YMCA Park which is right next to the tower. Yes, it's named after that YMCA - the Young Men's Christian Association. We get a couple of bracelets, pet some stray cats, and then head back to our VRBO.

Good Evening


We have leftovers for dinner after getting settled back into the apartment, and play a game of cribbage on the balcony. Jeremiah wins, and I get skunked! Ugh, that rarely happens now. We leave the apartment to go buy me some sympathy ice cream at Δωδώνη (Dodona). We sit outside, eating our ice cream, before heading back to the VRBO. Once we return, we change into our pajamas. I inject my medications that I need to for that evening, and we sit on the couch to watch Friends. We both end up falling asleep there. At some point, Jeremy wakes up and moves us to the bedroom.
