Jeremy's Last Flight to Greece

Jeremy boards his plane in Rome to come to Thessaloniki, exhausted, but ready to see me. I'm so incredibly ready to see him too. I left home fourteen days ago now. Two weeks without the love of my life feels a lot longer than the actual time that has passed.

Good Morning

I wake up to a message that Jeremy boarded his last flight. I get ready for the day and walk down to Alexandros, ordering my cappuccino and a slice of apple pie. When I start walking back to the apartment, my mother texts me several times in a row so I call her. I have a few hours to kill. I stay on the phone with her as I enter the apartment, pack up for my trip to the IVF clinic, and go to the bus stop nearby.

I'm on the phone with her for another thirty minutes waiting for the bus to arrive. We hang up as I board the public transportation. I get off the bus at IKEA and wait for bus 3K to arrive. It takes less than ten minutes. I hop on and take the bus to New Life Clinic.

Kalamaria

I arrive at New Life two hours early. I really thought the buses would take longer. Ope. I sit on the front steps to the building for a while, playing Pokémon Go, but it really sucks up my phone battery. I get up and decide to walk around the neighborhood to take pictures. I get pictures of flowers, bees, and an old café that doesn't look like it's in business anymore.

The heat starts to grow in the afternoon, so I walk back to New Life and go inside. I'd rather sit in the waiting area in air conditioning than on the stone steps outside in the sun.

Thessaloniki Airport

Jeremy lands in Thessaloniki and lets me know that he's not very impressed with Aegean Air. He says his experience was not like mine - he was offered a sandwich that looked "questionable" and he turned it down.

He is happy he doesn't have to go through passport control again. He gets to go straight to baggage claim, and his suitcase is the first one to come out! Luck seems to be on his side. He goes outside, but he doesn't see any shuttles to get to where he needs to pick up the rental car. He tries calling Alma, the rental agency, but the call will not go through. He asks me to try, but the call will not go through for me either.

At New Life, I approach the receptionist and ask if she can help me because my husband is stuck at the airport. She pages Thaleia, who comes over right away. Thaleia calls the agency after getting stern with a few other people on the call and gets through to someone who says they'll pick Jeremiah up in Parking Lot 5 at the airport. Thaleia is freaking amazing.

Jeremy walks over to Parking Lot 5 and is promptly picked up. He's driven over to Alma where he fills out the forms and is handed the keys to the rental car.

IVF Appointment

Thaleia takes me in for my vaginal ultrasound. We discover that my left ovary is the winner. There are more follicles, and the follicles are a healthier size than those in the right one. It's determined that I should continue taking the same medications at the same dosages and that my next appointment will be on Monday.

Jeremiah arrives at New Life. Thaleia is so excited to meet him (I may or may not have been gushing about him this whole trip). She opens the clinic door to let him in. I race over, practically flying into his arms. I hand him a mask, as we are required to wear them in the clinic. I turn and introduce him to Thaleia. We head back into the doctor's office, where Thaleia lets Jeremy know that he will have to do bloodwork on Monday when we come in for my next appointment.

Peraia

Jeremiah and I leave the clinic together, holding hands. We get into the rental car and Jeremy drives us back to the VRBO. He unpacks his belongings, we charge our phones, and he lays down for a nap. I lay next to him and read my book while he snoozes. He asks me to wake him up after 1 hour, as he wants to try to stay awake until night time that evening.

I wake him up, and we walk down to Alexandros so that he can get a coffee. I order for him, and we each get waffles to eat. Jeremy was starving, but the coffee doesn't do much to wake him up. He hasn't slept in a long time, since he also doesn't sleep on flights very well.

When we are done there, we walk down the beach and find a few shells to keep. It is so hot outside, that we stop back at the VRBO to cool off. Jeremy takes another nap, and I play Tears of the Kingdom. I wake him up at 19:00 so that we can go have dinner, and so that his sleep schedule isn't completely messed up.

The Boardwalk

We walk out to the waterfront and make our way down to Roberto Michelle Accessories to get Jeremiah a pair of sunglasses - he forgot his at home, or lost them in the airport, he's not entirely sure. We also get a magnet, and I purchase a small backpack for myself.

We go to Tsipouadiko Aroma Glykanisou for dinner. I try a frappé, but Jeremy needs to finish it for me. I'm not a fan. He orders a Coca-Cola which arrives in a glass bottle, how cool! We order cheese balls and mushrooms for appetizers. Jeremy has a red snapper for dinner, and I have cod and crab claws. Several stray cats come to visit us as we dine, and Jeremy loves it. So do I. I have to say though, I have the best view in the world - my husband across from me, lit by the golden light of the setting sun.

After dinner, we return to the apartment where I take my medications. This time, Jeremy is able to support me in person. The blood thinners still hurt, but at least he can hug me through it. He collapses in bed and quickly falls asleep. I sit on my laptop and edit pictures until I get tired, too, happy to sleep next to my husband again.
