Day 16 in Greece - 2023

Good Morning

We wake up around 09:00, and Jeremy makes loaded scrambled eggs for breakfast. We eat breakfast out on the balcony, and whip out the cribbage board. Today, I am victorious, and it is he who is skunked! I wash the dishes, and we pack up to go to the beach. Thaleia had told us to check out Sani Beach, so that is our destination today. We drive down to Alexandros for coffee to take away, and then leave Peraia.

Sani Beach

We drive out to Sane, and locate Sani Beach. The drive was less than one hour, and was honestly very scenic. We pay to rent two chairs with umbrellas next to the water. We have access to the chairs all day, and it's only twenty Euros (10 per chair). There's a designated area for swimming which is not that deep. The water is very blue, and extremely clear.

There are staff members who come around to take drink and food orders. We start with drinks since it hasn't been too long since we had breakfast. Jeremy gets a mochaccino, and I get a protein smoothie. We pop in and out of the water, snorkeling, finding sea shells, and sipping on our beverages. My favorite part is when we just float around, our faces in the water looking at the fish, holding hands so we don't drift apart. Jeremiah honestly makes me feel like the most loved person in the universe, and I'm so happy he loves to share these moments with me.

After an hour or two of doing this, we order lunch. Jeremy gets a club baguette, and I get the funghi pizza. After we eat, we go rinse the sand off of ourselves, and hop back into the rental car. Thaleia had also told us of another beach to check out called Kallithea, so we make our way over there.

Kallithea

While Sani was very structured and had staff attending the beach, Kallithea is more free and open. There are no designated swimming areas, no chair rentals, and no staff. Just people, the beach, and the sea.

We lay our towels down on the sand, laying in the sun for a while, just relaxing. There are very few people on the beach today, but there are two older ladies off to the side, suntanning, topless. Oh, to be so free. I swear Jeremy snoozes for a bit in the warm sun. He says he didn't sleep, but his little snores told a different story.

We put on our snorkel masks and make our way out into the water. We swim out as far as we are comfortable doing, essentially until we cannot touch the sand anymore. We see several fish, but don't find one single shell. We were otters once more, floating in the sea, holding hands to stay together, and it's honestly one of the most romantic things I've ever done in my life.

Back to Peraia

The evening starts to roll in, and we leave the beach to head back to Peraia. We go out for ice cream at a place called Siel, sitting on the bench next to the sea, eating our desserts, and playing Pokémon Go together. We walk back to the VRBO, making dinner, watching Netflix, and then heading to bed. This was a perfect day.

A stunning sunset over the ocean creates a golden path of light reflecting on the calm water's surface.
