COVID

COVID interfered with the Furry Scurries of 2020 and 2021, which is why those years are missing. Thus, if you're only here reading the Furry Scurry blogs, you shall jump from 2018 to 2019 to 2022. Sometimes it feels like the whole world was on pause for those two years, and the Furry Scurry is no exception to that.

Furry Scurry 2022

Jeremiah and I decided to not do the Furry Scurry again as a "team" but rather just register individually. He and I venture to Wash Park together with our three dogs: Sequoia, Willow, and Aspen. Unfortunately, Autumn passed away in December of 2020. Sequoia is a golden retriever, Willow is a super-mutt rescue from Two Blondes All Breeds Rescue (would not recommend), and Aspen is a super-mutt from Rezdawg Rescue (would recommend).

Aspen tends to do her own thing while Willow and Sequoia are always paired up, so we put Willow and Sequoia on the Y leash together and Aspen on her own. Jeremiah ended up walking all three dogs for the most part though because Aspen would get very sad separated, even if she did want to walk slower than them. Here's a picture of Jeremiah with all three at the start line!

We don't start the 5k yet, it's not time, so we go check out the vendors. Good Times is here giving away free pup cups of ice cream, so we grab one for each of our dogs. Much to our expectations, they devour them.

After perusing the vendors and getting all of our free dog treats, bandanas, and toys, we go to a grassy area of the park to relax before the 5k begins. Our girls are so beautiful!

It's time for the Furry Scurry to begin! Jeremy and I join the crowd of people at the start line. The runners are all a the front. The rest of us are walkers. Our dogs do very well in the crowd of people walking their dogs, but we stay to the side of the walkway just in case we have to take a break for the sake of our dogs' sanities.

We complete the 5k, taking turns walking Aspen. Sequoia and Willow were a permanent extension of Jeremy's arm the entire time. I hand Aspen back to Jeremy before we cross the finish line so I can take a photograph of them.

We are all hot after walking the 5k, and the weather has been warm and sunny, so we let the girls take a dip in one of the kiddie pools Denver Dumb Friends League puts out for the puppers to cool off. They are seriously so great at thinking of everything down to the smallest of details. I'm so glad this has become an annual tradition for us to partake in.
