Day 1
Road Trip to Steamboat Springs
Jeremiah is a wonderful boyfriend, and this year he is taking me to Steamboat Springs for my birthday weekend! The drive out to Steamboat Springs is beautiful. You definitely get to see a variety of landscapes on your way out there. The valley between the mountains in which you are driving in for the majority of the way there is filled with open fields, lush greenery, and several cattle and equine ranches.
Steamboat Springs
It takes us a few hours to get to Steamboat Springs, and the first thing we do is check into our hotel room. We are staying at the Fairfield by Marriott. Jeremy changes into his button up, surprisingly plaid shirt, and I change into my summer dress, we head downtown. We shop the historic main street area, which is filled mostly with tourist shops as one would suspect.
On the way into town we had seen a plethora of yellow signs advertising F.M. Light and Sons, a store. We each end up getting cowboy/girl hats from there.
We stop in several other shops. I end up getting a tank top and a long sleeve hoodie shirt. Jeremy gets candy.
We end up having dinner at 8th Street Steakhouse. I am disappointed to find that we have to cook our own food if we order off of the main menu, and the side dishes are extra. It's over-priced for having to grill your own meat, and the "free" salad bar is not that great. It's safe to say I wam frustrated. The glass of wine I have is yummy, and Jeremy orders the crab (which he didn't have to make because it was off of the special menu) which is delicious.
We drive over to the Safeway to look for a birthday cake. I end up getting a variety cheesecake, where all of the varieties included chocolate (yesssss). Jeremy insists I get the number candles, so he buys me a "2" and a "6". I guess when I turn 62 I can use them again.
The Clock Strikes Midnight
We are back in our hotel room, and we have been playing Code Names for a bit. The time turns to midnight, and Jeremy grabs my cake, lights the candles, and sings me "Happy Birthday". He gifts me a Nintendo 3DS (purple galaxy version), and after having some cake, we go to sleep for the evening. I truly am blessed to have him in my life.
