Day 3

First Half of the Day

We wake up and discover the same breakfast waiting for us for the third morning in a row. We finish breakfast, pack up our stuff, and check out of La Quinta in Sioux Falls.

We get Starbucks and drive over to Great Plains Zoo. You can read about that adventure here:

Wall, South Dakota

We leave the zoo and grab Taco Bell for lunch on the way out of town. We decide to eat on the road, and get onto I-90 West toward Wall, South Dakota.

Upon arriving in Wall, we immediately just go straight to Wall Drug. We end up finding it to be an extremely disappointing experience. The "Main Street" part of it is cool, where you are standing in a hallway and see the storefronts of various sections of Wall Drug line the hall. Otherwise it is full of very touristy gifts, and most of the different storefronts seem to carry either the exact same or a variant of the same type of product. There are a few unique shops, but for the most part it's all a repeat of something you have already seen.

There is an area between the shops and another building. It seems to be a picnic area, and there's a giant jackalope figure that you can sit on. Jeremy climbs up it and I take a photo of him up there. We try the doors of the second building, but they are locked. I find out later that it's some sort of art museum.

We leave Wall Drug to shop at a few more stores. We buy a bottle of pumpkin wine at one store, and a few shirts from another. We then go get dinner at Badlands Saloon and Grill. We order cheese curds for an appetizer. Jeremy orders chicken fried steak, and I get a chicken bacon ranch pizza.

After dinner, we drive through the small town ending up at their city park. We then go to check into our hotel, America's Best Value Inn and go to bed.
