Norwegian Cruise - Day 6

Before Disembarkment


The morning is very staggered today. Kyle and Jeremiah get up early together to go make reservations at one of the restaurants we have credits towards due to the package we paid for when booking the cruise. Zelda and I get up about two hours later, and the other three get up two hours after that.


Zelda, Kyle, Jeremiah, and I head to the buffet for breakfast and then down to the atrium to grab coffees. As Jeremy waits for our drinks to be brewed and created, I go out on the promenade to take pictures of a beached boat on the coast of Costa Maya. Kyle and Jeremiah had seen it earlier in the morning and mentioned it to me. Zelda is supervised by Kyle while I take pictures and they manage to find a rubber ducky! We go to the other side of the ship in the shade and relax on loungers while sipping on coffee. We need to finish them before disembarking to go to the port. The other three let us know that they don't want to go to port this morning via text, so we decide we might as well get a wiggle on it.

Costa Maya


The pier here is longer, and on the way we find two more ducks - tiny acrylic ones on top of posts along the way. It's very, very hot. There's an adolescent gray pelican perched on a wall right before you enter the port and I snap a few pictures. We are disappointed to see that the port is only shops, bars, a swim up bar with a small pool, and some loungers here and there. There's nothing really for us to do but shop. I'd rather swim in the pool on the ship while everyone is in port instead of swimming here where the crowds of three ships have gathered. We purchase a doll for Zelda, and then head back to the ship, all of us uncomfortable as heck due to the heat.

Back on the Boat


We go to our staterooms to enjoy the air conditioning and cool off for about half an hour. After that we head down to Bliss Lounge, stopping for coffee on the way. We are meeting the whole group here for a T-Shirt Decorating event. They only have XL shirts, so the five adults all decorate one each with the toddlers offering some minor assistance.


Zelda and I head back to the stateroom so that she can nap. I let her nap in the big bed next to me while I read my book. The men are all of playing a board game. Zelda times her nap perfectly, waking up right when I finish the novel. I text the group that she's awake, and soon Jeremiah comes down and we change into swimsuits.

Splash Academy


The group all gathers at Splash Academy Kiddie Pool which is really a small water park with slides and such. Zelda has a blast, and Zackary has a few other boys close to his age to play with in one of the small pools. Zelda slips at some point and goes underwater. The few seconds felt like eternity as I stood up, took two steps over to her and pulled her up. She was just fine, she held her breath and everything. I'm so proud!


We all went into the bigger pool in the area after some time and just had fun splashing around. It was honestly way better than port.

Evening aboard Norwegian Dawn


We leave the pool and each return to our staterooms to clean up and change into normal clothes meeting up again at 18:30 for dinner.


I step outside to take pictures of the setting sun.


Bethany takes Zackary to the on-ship daycare, and the rest of us go to the library. Nobody else is there, and it's an enclosed room, so we let Zelda run freely. All the books are safely behind closed doors. Jeremiah and I had grabbed coffee on the way here, and once my cup is empty, Zelda grabs it and pretends she is drinking coffee which I think is cute.


Around 20:15 Kyle and I head down to the EFFY jewelry event to get our free amulets and Jeremiah takes Zelda to our room. I meet him there after obtaining my trinket, we put Zelda to bed, and then work on crossword puzzles until we fall asleep.
