Day 21 in Greece - 2023

Good Morning


We wake up, still exhausted from walking so much yesterday. We go downstairs to have our coffee and toast provided by the hotel. We head back upstairs, pack up, and I update our IVF board. All six eggs that fertilized have successfully developed into growing embryos! That's very exciting news. We go to our car in the parking ramp, exit, and make our way over to Attica Zoological Park.

Attica Zoological Park


Attica Zoological Park used to be an aviary, so their primary type of animals in exhibits are birds. Some of the aviaries are closed due to mating season - can't get too wild at the zoo!


When we enter the zoo, we follow a very large group of children in. It's Sunday, so it seems strange, maybe they are here with a daycare. They and their chaperones start walking in the counter-clockwise direction after getting through the entrance, so we go clockwise.


The left part of the zoo is kind of like a maze. We get turned around quite a few times, but we don't mind. We're not on a tight schedule. We get to see several animals that we have never seen before - a Somali Wild Ass, Kafue Flats Lechwe, Eurasian Lynx, European Wildcat, Black Swan, Fallow Deer, and the Sitatunga.


There's a part towards the back where you can walk in an area with the lemurs. It's very cool being so close to them. They stay up and out of reach, which is totally fine with us. We respect their space.


We eat lunch at the zoo, both of us having chicken nuggets and fries. Our options were quite limited. We finish eating lunch, and head over to the right side of the zoo which has fewer animals because they are all larger exhibits. We get to see giraffes and elephants in particular.

Peraia


We exit the zoo, getting into our car, and drive back to Peraia. We get back to our VRBO late in the evening. Neither one of us has any clean clothes left, so we stay in, cook dinner, do laundry, and watch Netflix.
